Since my boyfriend, Matthew, will appear in many of my posts I thought I would officially introduce him. My knickname for him is “LJ,” as in lumberjack, because he has a beard, shaggy hair and many days wears jeans and a red and blue plaid shirt. Now how can I describe his personality without sounding like an obsessed 15 year old? He’s handsome, artistic, self-motivated, musical, well read, writes well, obsesses over doing the Appalachian Trail , loves scuba diving, loves kids and has an incredibly unique sense of humor. Is that all you may ask? Probably not!
We met at a biannual rock climbers meet and greet. I had always wanted to go rock climbing and after some research online I found a website dedicated to rock climbing in Korea (future post on Korean rock climbing to come). I sent messages to an Aussie (now my friend Jake) living in a nearby city asking for a ride to the next meet and greet. Since I only signed my name as H and not Heidi, he had assumed I was a guy. When I arrived to the meeting place, both Jake and Matthew were there and surprised to see a girl. After two days of camping, climbing and slack lining with 50+ other people, Matthew and I started a friendship that would months later, become more.
